Upon arraival, I went to Guwahati and drove to Shillong, en route  to visit Umiam lake. Check in at the hotel. Overnight in Shillong.

 Shillong City Tour 

After breakfast, visit for local Sightseeing to Mawphlang Sacred Forest,Tea estate, Don Bosco Monument, Ward’s Lake, Botanical Garden and Lady Hydari Park. Overnight at Shillong.

After breakfast, we went to Mawlynnong. Drive back to Shillong for an overnight stay.  With the Dawaki Boat Ride.Dawki Boat Ride (at additional cost), as per time permits.

Mawlynnong village, situated 90 kms ahead of Shillong on the Shillong-Dawki Road, 30 kms from Pynursla, is a village of 75 households with a population of 400. An idyllic location, this village epitomizes a standard, which all other villages need to aspire to be. Dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine, the primary Village School till class V boasts of its no dropout record and the village of 90 % literacy. Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbeds all along mark the village, with waterfalls, *a living root bridge, hilly rivulets, acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh all contribute to the ambience of this village. Farming of betel nut & leaves, broomsticks and pepper along with bee rearing are the primary economic activity of this Village and with the village headman himself taking the responsibility of making visitors comfortable, a day in this village gives an insight into the life of the Khasis, the influence of the Church and its metamorphosis. Also visit Dawki Bangladesh Border. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Shillong - Excursion to Mawsynram - Shillong

Acknowledged as one of the wettest places in the world, the mesmerizing village of Mawsynram is a nature lover's delight and the perfect destination to behold the beauty of the rains. Mawsynram trounces Cherrapunjee by a slight margin in being the wettest place in India.

A rain lover's paradise, Mawsynram is one of the best tourist attractions of India. The 'Maw' in Mawsynram is a Khasi word meaning 'stone'. It symbolizes the unique megaliths unearthed in the Khasi Hill area. The village is well known for its huge formation of a stalagmite, which takes after the shape of a 'Shivling'. Located in the East Khasi Hill district of Meghalaya, Mawsynram is 1400 m above sea level. The rains are so powerful in Mawsynram that the local villagers have to make use of thick grass to soundproof their homes from the thunderous rain.Later drive to Shillong & Overnight stay at Shillong.

After breakfast you will be traveling to Cherrapunjee (60 kms/ 02 hrs approx one way) – the wettest place on the earth. En route visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak - to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Shillong city. At Cherrapunjee visit – Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang Park, Koh Ramhah and Khmer Falls. Drive to Cherrapunjee for an overnight stay in a hotel.

 CHERRAPUNJI - NONGRIAT TREK- CHERRAPUNJI 

After breakfast at 7 am, proceed to Tyrna village.Start the trek to the Double Decker Root Bridge *(Nongriat) with the local guide.

Later on, you can also extend your hike to Rainbow Falls at an extra cost of Rs 1500.Climb up the 3500 steps to end the hike at the same village by evening. Overnight at Cherrapunji.
